We have been busy getting the mobile home ready to sell. We rented a storage unit in Klamath Falls and have made several trips with stuff in the VW. Of course we can't carry too much in the VW and this past Monday we took the coach in with a load of 'bigger' items. The purpose was two fold: one, to take large items to the storage unit and two, it has been almost two months since we moved the coach and that is not good to go so long without moving it. Larry changed the oil in the coach before we left and everything worked out fine. We made several stops along the way and didn't have any problems since Larry 'planned ahead'.

We had another yard sale one weekend but didn't do quite as well as the one in May but we aren't complaining. We decided we are getting to old to continue having yard sales! Too much work. We have sold several items on Craig's List since the sale. We may try E-Bay next.

The latest 'news' is our small town lost their domestic water supply last Tues night. There was a sudden drop of 20 ft in the water table and that was below the pump so no water! They dropped the pump another 80' so we again have water as of 2 PM this afternoon but it is not drinkable yet--not until Saturday afternoon and then it will need to be boiled. We were not affected as we had a full tank of fresh water and still have water left.

We left sunny AZ on May 3 and that evening just as we were approaching Battle Mountain, NV we had another tire failure on the trailer. We used Coach-Net to change the tire and pick up the pieces for return to Goodyear. We arrived back to home base late May 4 and were greeted by REALLY cold weather--it went down to 20` and then snowed--four different days in May, the last being on May 20! After the first week here our Aqua-Hot furnace quit and because the heat pumps won't work below 35` we had to resort to portable electric heaters. PTL for them! The Aqua-Hot still isn't fixed as it has been too cold for Larry to get in there and check it out.

We planned a yard sale for the weekend of May 14-15 and the weather was nice for those two days--again Praise the Lord! We did well but still have lots to sell. We put up 'For Sale by owner' signs and have showed the place 8 times but nothing firm yet. That will come in God's time and it also gives us more time to get the place in order. We have discovered we are slower than we used to be!

We received notification from Goodyear that they will pay for the trailer tire and the trailer damage. Another PTL!!

Another praise this month--my computer will be 4 years old on July 2, 2010 and that is when my warranty expires. I have had problems with it from day one and Dell has been to the coach at least six times trying to fix it and it again was causing problems so this time Larry asked them if they would replace the computer and PTL they did! The 'new' computer has many extras (like a camera) and it has Windows 7. I have had a few 'issues' but between talking to Dell and Microsoft, they have been worked out. I feel very blessed to have an updated computer for very little outgo!!

Arizona-Nevada Tales

We made two more trips to Prescott to see Larry's mom and Larry fixed several things for her before we left AZ. We went via Jerome once and for those of you who have traveled that road, you know how challenging it can be! It was fun in the Bug but I would much rather go around using I-17. We had to go to Phoenix for some more work on the Bug and ended up with an unexpected overnight at Dawn and Vince's when we had to get a part from CA. The up side was we got to see them again and also see Bethany's prom dress, which I had heard about but didn't think I would get to see 'in person'.

We left AZ early by one day so we could get well settled at Front Sight Gun Training Facility near Pahrump, NV where Larry took a two day handgun course. While Larry was taking the course, I washed the motorhome as it was really dirty from the rain we encountered on the way there. We both where tired puppies at the end of the second day! We then moved to Preferred RV in Pahrump where we planned on staying four days but on Sunday discovered a leak behind the shower, running down the wall. We had to turn the water off and then dry out the wall and floor before Larry could crawl into the 18" cabinet (after I took all the drawers, shelves and stuff out) so he could fix it. It took three days and three different trips to town to finally get the right parts and get it fixed. He also made sure it wouldn't happen again.
We decided to extend in Pahrump for the weekend and today took a trip to China Date Ranch near Tecopa, CA. We visited there in 2004 but this time we went a different way ( we took the Old Spanish Trail this time). We bought dilled garlic before and bought more only this time it is spiced garlic. We also enjoyed a date shake. The weather couldn't have been more beautiful!!

We have been on the go, go, go all month. We’ve made three trips to the Phoenix area for purchases and after moving to the Verde Valley mid month, we’ve made several trips to Clarkdale, AZ to get the Bug worked on. It is coming along fine and is starting to look pretty good after some hard work on the paint. It is a long way from perfect (which is what Larry strives for in everything!) but we don’t want to put a lot of money into it so he is having to restrain himself.

We have also made two trips to Prescott to see Larry’s mom. March 31 we had a ‘mini’ reunion in Prescott with Larry’s brother, sister-in-law, niece, our two kids, son-in-law and one granddaughter along with Mom Clark where we all met at Golden Corral for a three hour lunch. We had a great visit and caught up with family ‘doins’. It had been 23 years since our son Todd saw his cousin, Cyndi and 12 years since our daughter, Dawn and we saw her. She has 6 grandchildren now, more than we have! It was good to see her again after so many years as well as her parents.

We spent a week in Yuma, AZ so Larry could get new glasses and get his teeth fixed. The dentist in Apache Junction gave him an estimate of $6900 to have them fixed and he spent $170 in Algodones, Mexico, some difference! We spent four nights in a Yuma casino parking lot and three nights on a 'tour' of another campground. We had a friend stop by unexpectedly on Mon. while we were in Yuma and had a nice visit with him. It is always nice to see folks we have met along the way.

We bought a 1971 VW Super Beetle in preparation for selling our VX which we did and delivered it to Phoenix Sat. Feb 27 to a fellow from Colorado Springs, CO. We went in early to do a few errands and had nice visits with both kids and their spouses. The VW was not what the fellow who sold it to us said it was, so Larry has been working hard to get it into safe running condition. It is amazing how many folks stop to look at it and talk about the VW they used to have! We also used to have VW's, two and a dune buggy so it is taking us back a few years. It is an in-between car for now, at least that is the plan unless God changes our minds.

We have been two weeks at Colorado River Oasis located across the Colorado River from Blythe, CA. We quickly found that we are basically out in the middle of the desert as neither Ehrenberg or Blythe have much to offer but we have enjoyed our time here anyway. We went to a Santos concert at the Calvary Chapel in Blythe and enjoyed it very much.

We will be moving even farther out into the desert for two weeks so will make a run to Blythe (all of 5 miles) to the grocery to stock up before we head out on Thurs.

We had quite a rain storm for Apache Junction, AZ getting about half a year's worth of rain in less than a week! Compared to the weather in the rest of the country though, we feel very fortunate and are glad we are here.

Sunday, January 17 we drove to Tucson for another cousin reunion. This time we had nine out of twelve remaining cousins who could make the trip coming from all over the USA. We met in the Rally Room at the RV park where one cousin is staying and had a great time looking at old pictures and getting re-acquainted as well as sharing past memories. We laughed a lot and even played Michigan Rummy, something we did as kids when visiting family.

Friday January 29 we met the kids and one grand at Applebees on the south side of Phoenix to celebrate Ellen's birthday. The staff sang as they presented her with a complementary sundae and said she turned 25 again--made her feel great!

We are currently in Casa Grande, at one of our favorite parks and will move on to Yuma so Larry can get his teeth worked on in 11 days.

Here we are starting a new decade. Time goes faster and faster!
December was a good month for us. We saw many friends and went to several Christmas parties and hosted the family on Christmas day. It was nice to see more stores acknowledging Christmas this year, the celebration of Jesus' birth 2000 years ago. We also took a trip to Prescott to see Larry's mother and took a picture of four generations. About 14 years ago we took a picture of five generations,with Larry's grandmother the one missing now as she went home to be with Jesus in 1997.

We have enjoyed our time at Sunrise Heights in Phoenix. We head to Apache Junction in a few days to the same spot we had last year (only one big enough for us!).
