Walking Weather again!

 Oct 3 we had a wind storm like I've never seen before!  The top speed we recorded was 53 mph and Larry was so grateful he had put guy wires on the RV cover.  I felt like it was a 'desert hurricane' but we really didn't receive any damage thankfully.  Afterwards Larry decided to increase the size of the guy wire on the front of the RV cover to add more support for any future winds.

We also had several days of rain including the 15th when we had three different storms of 1/2 hour of rain each and the high that day was 63º.

Since the weather has turned so nice, I've been able to walk many days and it really feels good to get out and about.

Todd came for a visit on the 20th and we had a really nice visit.  As he was coming in, Dawn was going out to a doctor's appt. so they were able to have a brief 'visit' as she hadn't returned before he left four hours later.

We discovered our house batteries were 'toast' (no surprise after 10 + years!) so after much research Larry ordered lithium batteries and a new solar charger that charges both AGM and lithium batteries.  He had to lay on his back in the big bay to take out the old charger and put in the new charger.  He also found that in 2017 when we upgraded to the SilverLeaf monitoring system, they left all the old Aladin wiring in place so he was able to remove much of that for a lot more room.  The 29th we spent the day taking out the old AGM batteries and putting in the new lithium batteries.  That was a chore and a half as the old batteries weigh 125 lbs each (the new batteries are 55 lb each).  We used the Port-a-crane for both chores but the batteries in the back of the tray were really bears to get out.

Our toilet seat hinge broke after 19 1/2 years so we went to Lowe's for a new one.  Only problem is we have an RV toilet and the seat is for residential which means the bolt holes are in different places.  A new RV  toilet seat costs $129 and the one from Lowe's was $43 so Larry made a bracket from aluminum to make it fit.  I'm so grateful he has the smarts and tools to do that sort of thing saving us money!  It also is one of the new seats that 'close slowly'.

We ended the month with a really nice Potluck at church and met a fellow from Switzerland who was a pastry chef before he retired.  He had some interesting stories to tell.

 Sept wasn't as bad as usual.  Actually we had some pretty nice weather.  It rained several days in a row and the night time temps were in the 70's.

Larry finished the solar panel project and since he had three surgeries scheduled for the month, he slowed way down.  He did move the solar lights and replaced the batteries so they are working much better now.

All three surgeries went well and we both are glad they are behind us.  It was really hard because we had to get up early for the surgeries and we are usually late sleepers.

I think the 100º days are behind us now and the weather will just keep getting better.  On to the great AZ fall and winter months!

Now for the worse month of the year!

 Now that the shade project is finished I helped Larry remove the four solar panels from the roof of the MH. Since we are under the RV cover now they are not getting any sun and he wants to put them where they will do some good. He built a frame to put them in and then we talked about where to put them since we have a limited back yard. He came up with the idea of putting the frame on the back door of his Man Cave and then they would shade the back of the trailer. A bit later he decided he could take the automatic tongue jack off the Man Cave trailer (since it doesn’t move any more) and use it to adjust the solar panel frame for the best positions for summer and winter so that’s what he has been working on much of the month. The weather has been cooler and we had a week of monsoon rain with twice getting heavy rain and lots of wind. The rain was most welcomed although all at once wasn’t so great.

Aug 20 we went to Tempe to celebrate our first great granddaughter’s 9th birthday. It was held at the community pool which has inside air conditioned meeting rooms for the party and a really nice swimming pool so the kids had

a great time. It was fun seeing everyone again.

and he did a nice job. I helped him and we both suffered many bug bites

from what we can figure out are ‘Buffalo bugs’. I was wearing a muscle shirt

so I had more bites on my arms and back than Larry did and am just now

getting over the itching. The weather held and we had no rain. The bad thing

is the temperature has gone back up to 109º!

For our anniversary we went to Olive Garden for supper and then to the movies and saw “Top Gun Maverick”. I’m not a movie fan but I did enjoy

the movie. Since Larry was in the Navy and on an air craft carrier and we lived in San Diego, I figured he would enjoy it and it would take him back to yesteryear.

For Larry’s birthday Vince and Dawn treated us to Carlos O’Brian Mexican Food and then we had cake upon returning to their house. Larry took the day off from working as it was again really hot

(108º).   We ended the month on a good note.

One big project finished and RAIN finally

July has been the month of late night working to avoid the direct sun and heat

(still didn’t miss the heat as many nights it was nearly 100º!). We were finishing putting up the shade screen on the west side and half of the south side to cover Larry’s Man Cave as well as just finishing putting up the partial shade on the east side to shade the car in the mornings. God was so good as we had five days of below 100º and one day the high was only 85º, unheard of for July in Phoenix!   I was able to go for a walk two different days, something I haven’t done in quite awhile so it felt good so get out again.

The 19th Larry had a CT scan at the VA and spent 15 minutes driving around looking for a parking place. On one of his rounds some nice folks gave him a bag of fresh produce which we have enjoyed very much!

We had another nice visit from Todd on the 20th. It is always nice to see him and we had a good visit.

We have been playing Farkle on Fridays instead of Train as it gives all of us a better chance of winning and usually each of us wins at least one game. We

are able to play several games as they go quickly.

The heat has about done my garden in but we have enjoyed okra, squash and beets. I’m hoping my ‘winter’ garden will do better but I have to wait a few more months before planting it. 

Now that the shades are in place, Larry made frames to pour concrete in to hold the shades on the west side down in the wind. We had a fierce storm Saturday night July 30 with 41mph winds and almost an inch of rain in half an hour!  We really needed the rain but not like that! The sky was purple after the storm.

We purchased 4G EMF protection years ago, for our personal protection, which went on our iPhones. But, when 5G came out, Larry was having issues!  When he placed his 5G iPhone12Max in his overall pocket, which was next to his CPAP Inspire device, the Inspire, which is similar to a heart Pacemaker; would vibrate and make a buzzing noise. 

So, we purchased the new updated 5G EMF protection Devices from Aires Tech. We each have a device on a chain around our necks, so when we are apart, we both have EMF protection from 5G and the other frequencies. We don't really need to wear them when we are at home, because, the Life Tunes cover 50 square feet!  Larry just hangs his on the cabinet above our bed at night, and I leave mine hung on a cabinet next to our computers, so we don't forget to put them around our necks, when we go shopping, etc.

Larry has worn the Life Tunes Personal device for several days now and the Inspire issue seems to be non-existent now with the  Life Tunes device, which actually covers 50 square feet.

We have used the Aires EMF protectors for over 3 years now, and they keep updating the microprocessors as new EMF frequencies come out, which affect our health in Negative ways. Making some progress

Larry went to our neighbor Don who makes Tank Tech RX for RV tanks and he gave Larry some good advice as well as a new proto type of cleaner that we have been using all this month with good results.

It seems so much hotter this year than last so Larry decided we needed to put up a shade on the west side of the RV cover to help keep the sun off the MH in the afternoon. He came up with an idea so we ordered 90% sun shade like the garden is covered with. He had to put up brackets and lumber to screw the sun shade to and that proved to be quite a feat especially since he doesn’t

like heights!

Todd came to see us on Father’s Day and he was just what Larry needed to help him get a 12’ by 6’ board on top of the MH across to the top of the house as I was unable to lift my end of the board. Once that was done we had a wonderful five hour visit even playing Farkle with Dawn and Vince. Todd won one of two games we played.

We have enjoyed beets, carrots, lettuce, green onions, okra and squash out of the garden. A rat enjoyed all but one of my tomatoes and the last one is just turning red so hopefully WE can enjoy it soon instead of the rat. I’ve covered it with a net to hopefully keep the rat away. He is smart and keeps

getting the food but not get trapped. The last two days he has been ‘protecting’ his home with some kind of poop and several cactus spikes!

We’ve had five nights of monsoon winds but no rain for us (many places around us did get some rain but all we got was dust, lots of wind and just

enough sprinkles to make a royal mess of things). We’ve only been able to get two of five sections of shade up and then discovered we have to do things differently as the winds pick it up way too high!

My eye is doing better as I again went to the Retinal Surgeon and he was pleased with my progress. I go back in six weeks. Larry had several VA visits and learned they can do the freezing of the spot on his kidney but he needs another CT scan first as it has been six months since it was first found.

We have been playing Farkle with Dawn and Vince on Friday afternoons and have enough time to get 4-5 games in which allows all of us to win which is

nice.
