Heading West

On Tuesday Sept 2 we had a family service at the cemetery for my stepmother. It was nice I was able to be part of that service since we missed the celebration service at the church on Aug 15.

We then turned our focus to the upcoming wedding and helped decorate the reception area. I had nice visits with my niece's and families and it was a lovely wedding. Cousins came from IL and MO so I was able to catch up on many family activities.

Tuesday the 9th we traveled to Richmond to see Larry's brother and sister-in law. Their daughter, Cyndi stopped by in the afternoon with three grandkids so we were able to see his side of the family also.

With all the rain, we decided we needed new windshield wipers for the MH since the old ones are many years old and not doing a very good job. We found them on line and Larry finally put them on when we were in MO.

While we were still in IN we visited the Earnie Pyle Museum in Dana, IN with several veterans who visited the campground in their WW II vehicles. It was a very interesting tour and I learned much about the war I did not know before. We also took a day for me to see covered bridges. We visited seven bridges in about 30 miles. We stopped at the Rock Run cafe which was an old gas station that has been turned into a really unique restaurant.

We were still having issues with the inside duals and stopped two more times at truck stops and now I think they are finally fixed.

We are currently in Grove, OK and last weekend we went to the HarBer Village Museum since they had a special free admission day. The village consists on 102 buildings, many actual log cabins that have been moved and re-built on the property. It was very interesting and well done. It was founded in 1968 by Harvey (Har) and Bernice (Ber) Jones. They had a summer lake house on Grand Lake and that's where the village is located. They never had children so focused their attention on collecting old things.

Sept 29 we went to Colaw's RV Salvage and parts store in Carthage, MO. They have tons of salvage parts and a huge building of new parts. Larry found a tall faucet for his sink that he has been wanting for a long time so he can wash his arms when he comes in. That will be a future project.

On the way here, (Grove,OK) all the 12 volt electric went out on the coach which meant no gauges, no lights, no water, and no toilet. We stopped at a rest stop so Larry could try to figure out what happened. He finally decided the alternator died and when it did it sent a jolt to the inverters and they promptly shut down. After re-setting them we still didn't have 12 volt electric but a call to the Monaco tech line fixed that with a toggle to the battery cut off switch by the front door. We are currently waiting for the new alternator to arrive so we can continue on our trip west.
